Particle-Based Numerical Modelling of Liquid Marbles: Recent Advances and Future Perspectives

نویسندگان

چکیده

A liquid marble is a droplet coated usually with hydrophobic particles that can hold very small volume without wetting the adjacent surface. This combination gives rise to set of unique properties such as resistance contamination, low-friction mobility and flexible manipulation, making them appealing for myriad engineering applications including miniature reactors, gas sensing drug delivery. Despite numerous experimental studies, numerical modelling investigations marbles are currently underrepresented in literature, although lead better understanding their overall behaviour while overcoming use cost- time-intensive experimental-only procedures. paper therefore evaluates capabilities three well-established widely-used particle-based frameworks, namely Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH)-based approaches, Coarse-Grained (CG)-based approaches Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM)-based investigate liquid-marble key applications. Through comprehensive review recent advancements, it reveals these demonstrate promising simulating complex multiphysical phenomena involved systems floatation, coalescence surface-tension-surface-area relationship. The further elaborates on perspective benefiting from computational techniques, become an even more effective exciting platform many cutting-edge large-scale

Recent Advances and Future Perspectives on Microfluidic Liquid Handling

The interdisciplinary research field of microfluidics has the potential to revolutionize current technologies that require the handling of a small amount of fluid, a fast response, low costs and automation. Microfluidic platforms that handle small amounts of liquid have been categorised as continuous-flow microfluidics and digital microfluidics. The first part of this paper discusses the recent...

Polar Microbiology: Recent Advances and Future Perspectives

Most of the Earth's biosphere is cold (85% is permanently exposed to temperatures below 5 °C), with 14% being polar. Polar regions are areas of the globe surrounding the poles. They are different in that the Arctic is a frozen ocean surrounded by continental landmasses and open oceans, whereas Antarctica is a frozen continent surrounded solely by oceans. The Arctic has numerous definitions; the...

Liquid marbles: topical context within soft matter and recent progress.

The study of particle stabilized interfaces has a long history in terms of emulsions, foams and related dry powders. The same underlying interfacial energy principles also allow hydrophobic particles to encapsulate individual droplets into a stable form as individual macroscopic objects, which have recently been called "Liquid Marbles". Here we discuss conceptual similarities to superhydrophobi...
